Why won't they accept your cheques? And if they're not accepting your cheques or pre-authorized payment forms, how are they expecting you to pay them then?
I suspect it's because they're renting apartments in this building for over $100 more a monh than what I've been paying them and I asking for all these pesky repairs to be done.
Sounds like they are trying to build a fake case of "tenant doesn't pay rent". It's a fairly popular tactic in Montreal. Tenant sends in cheques, landlord doesn't cash them, tenant doesn't notice and then landlord pretends he never got the cheques in the first place and says the tenant is not paying rent. They usually do that when they want to get rid of a tenant so they can rent it at a much higher price and they know full well that they wouldn't be able to get away with a crazy rent hike with zero improvements to the unit.
You can always send your cheques through registered mail WITH signature. When Minto was being a pain and not returning my letters and such because I was trying to move out, that's what I did: registered mail at headquarters ... putting in the letter that a cc was going to the OHT. Got a phonecall the same day. Sure it costs quite a bit but it sends the message "I mean business and you can't ignore me anymore" quite clearly.

I just happen to record my dates when I call and visit.
The fact that they won't return my calls is just lame.
