I recently read Incubus Dreams, by Laurell K. Hamilton.

I would argue, that in that 700+ page creature, there was a 90-page novella in there called Incubus Dreams. I suggest the book be split into two parts... the aforementioned novella, and a pr0n contribution called "Anita Blake does St. Louis".

If it meets the following qualifications, she humped it:

a) Male
b) Vampire or Wereanimal
c) not named "Gregory"

Wikipedia describes the motivation as a "metaphysical emergency". Hoo Nelly, she needs to think up a better game plan that doesn't involve sleeping with vampires she's never met before.

In the future, should I decide to break your brain, I will repost select dialogue.

There's a reason the genre is called "vampire shagger".

But that doesn't mean she had to live up to it.

Damn.

(Which is not to say there isn't something to be gotten out of the books. Although I admit I had to Google to establish who Gregory was, or rather that he wasn't Gabriel.)

I rather liked the series up to that point. Two books previous to Incubus Dreams, I was getting sketchy. Obsidian Butterfly, with its big change in setting and its focus on Edward, was kind of redeeming for me.

Then I read Incubus Dreams, and gave up on the author entirely.

I mean, I *like* my pr0n. I just had hoped for better.

I agree entirely. I like a little pr0n, but this was just excessive, and some of it was just bad... and sometimes I skipped 2 or 3 chapters in a row and missed nothing but horrid writing.

I did read Micah before this... before realizing it comes afterwards... and I'm sort of glad I did, since while there was some relationship angsting, the story was actually decent.

Ditto. Some good books, but the increasing amount of erotica just makes them unreadable. The latest Mary Gentry book? 50 pages of story, 400-ish pages of mystical sex with long-haired sidhe men.

Perfect for Antra? (says Josh)

Thanks for the warning on the book! Seriously, I would be questioning the state of her marriage if it weren't for the overly-saccharine dedications to her husband.

I lent her the first Gentry one, but she hasn't gotten around to reading it.

I dunno.. the Gentry series is mostly sex yeah, but it has a bit more purpose in these books...

then again, it's also significantly odd-er....

Sex with tentacles.. sex with multi coloured Gods... Sex with tiny people... Sex with butterly wings... Sex with cat people

sex with sex.... sex with teeth... sex with tails, sex with multiple eyes...

really.. the list goes on and on and on and on and on.
