I woke up today and didn't hurt. My back didn't hurt. My neck didn''t hurt. No headaches. Nearly got runover by a car... but my back didn't hurt!!!

I suppose this is how normal people feel and it is so abnormal for me.

I savoured it, consciously taking time out of my day to think about how I didn't hurt.

I want more of these days.

Quick less-than-pleasant news note:

The landbeast is re-entering my apartment tomorrow. I have moved much stuff into inconvenient places so that her minions may get the work done. I do not think I will have it all moved back by Friday night, which means I likely will not be out to help paint on Saturday.

I suck. Sorry.

I still have Matt, Josh and Heather, which will be much more help than I had doing it in the first place, so no worries. There will be many more opportunities to lend a hand (most importantly on the moving day).

I managed volunteers for a long time, and contrary to popular belief held by other people in such roles, I always kept the personal view that volunteers are donating their time and sometimes have things that are personally more important to them and it is not reasonable to expect anyone to go out and take care of others before taking care of themselves. Shit happens. I've worked with people who believed volunteers HAD to be somewhere because they committed or whatnot. Volunteering is a gift of time and effort and gets tricky to give.
