Ok Everyone. The morning/afternoon area of January 29th will be the appointed day to paint the 2nd bedroom, anytime after 10am and I think I'm probably going to have to disappear around 5:30pm. I don't think I'll be able to paint the Master bedroom until I get more stuff in boxes, so One bedroom for now. Let me know what kind of snacks/drinks/lunch you guys want. I'll have everything ready for you and hopefully I'll get paid before then ;p The job does not have to be pretty!

I know you'll still be in Texas Queenie, but there will still be a need to repaint the Master bedroom once I am able to move some of the furniture out for starters (Won't be at that stage for another 2 weeks or so, but maybe I'll get lucky).

And of course February 25 and 26th will be painting days at the new apartment. This job will be pretty. I need colour suggestions, because I'm painting the living room this time and maybe the bathroom.

It has suddenly occurred to me that I am in need of directions. E-mail me if you would prefer not to post?

Do you need dropcloths? Painter tape? Rollers? Will it be primer-then-paint or just paint? Do you need to wash the walls first?

Snacks: carrots and celery?

I have a plastic sheet for the floor, I think I have 2 rollers, but I need to buy more of the foam portions for the rollers. I should really dig out my painting bucket and see what I still have left in it. If you have an extra dropcloth kicking around, that would be fantastic, but I'm almost tempted to see if I can pick up another bucket o' supplies liek I did last time and I think it cost me a whopping $20.

We are just priming, it's all the apartment asked me to do was one coat of primer since they are going to be doing the actual painting. I will be washing the walls, since I discovered yesterday that they can collect dust. I knew they collected other things but was not aware that dust accumulated.

For the last time. To prime a wall with cheap paint that will eventually be painted by the the apartment management with 2 coats of real paint requires NO SKILL. I'll be pickier in the new apartment where I might request things like even coverage.

As plans suddenly shift it turns that I'll likely be in Toronto on the 29th, but I still might be able to help paint the new place.

Helping anyone, landlords included, is a nice thing to do. You are aware, however, that it's the landlord that is legally obligated to paint if it's needed They have to sue you if they claim you've trashed the place. Normal wear and tear, including scratches, is the cost of doing business. This may have changed with Mike Harris; security deposits were illegal. Declarations that you may have signed stating you waive any right, including your right to proper upkeep like paint, have no legal meaning what so ever. It's like the form you sign before extreme sports saying you're willfully endangering yourself, it's a smoke screen. It is not possible to sign away a basic right. The company remains liable. I usually do all repairs on my own apartments but insist that the landlord pays for all parts and supplies. I keep receipts and the landlord reimburses, then uses the receipts as a tax write-off. Just sayin, ain't nothin wrong with asserting your rights...or making up your own deals.

Well, they say I'm obliged to restore the colour in the bedrooms to somethign neutral. Other thna that, I'm taking up some other things with them, like the time I had to pay to replace my deadbolt. I'll paint the walls if they don't make me replace the carpet I destroyed accidently.
