"Anybody who tells you money is the root of all evil doesn't fucking have any. They say money can't buy happiness? Look at the fucking smile on my face. Ear to ear, baby...."
Money can most certainly buy happiness. In fact, right this moment, about ten thousand dollars would buy me all the happiness I need. I don't know what the person who came up with "money can't buy happiness" was smoking.
I think what is meant by that is there are things that you need to be happy that money can't buy.
Still, those things aren't hard to get, at least if you have some basic social skills, and live in a place with a climate you can stand and a decent population density (the last part can be fixed with money as well).

Money can't make you a king.
Money may not bring success;
Money can't buy happiness!
But of one thing I am sure:
Money doesn't make you poor.
Money doesn't make you sad;
Money can't be all that bad!"
from a beginner piano book in the Alfred series.
