We definitely weren't expecting to be making this announcement so quickly, but James' first word is "Milk".

It's a practical word, I'll give him that. It's not the first word he recognized - that would be "Monkey", nor is it the first thing he said (Yeah), and it is definitely not the best pronounced thing he says (Hoo), but it is the first thing he said with meaning. He also backs it up with a hand gesture, in case there was any confusion.

He astounds me.

Alex was the same way. Before we even left the hospital he was coo'ing and trying to communicate verbally. At 9 weeks he was saying 'ooof (woof)maybe because I had a dog that always barked :) He learned letters really fast and was repeating A L E X by 12 weeks old. He never learned to crawl..he would scoot around on his butt.

I have to come visit sometime soon :( Sounds like you have a wonderful little guy!

That's amazing! You know, I never thought to try to teach him the alphabet...hmm... I think he'll have a problem with "J"... and "S", but 3 out of 5 wouldn't be bad.

My schedule is open, so just let me know when you want to pop by. We're in Toronto this weekend, but other than that, we're pretty free, and we're even getting close to being unpacked!
