After a failed attempt to go to work. I work from home today.

It's been a crazy few weeks.

I'm buying an HHR in Golden Teal and it should be delivered in early June (just in time for the snow to stop it seems).

I have no idea what's happening with my contract; I may have just been acquired by another company.

My photoshop isn't working, so there's a delay in the production of my wedding invitations.

I did some consulting for C-ACE. I will never understand gamerbrain. Let's see how much of my advice was taken to heart.

Time to get back to work...

yep

God forbid anyone hire someone term or indeterminate and quite complaining why no one stays around

Wow, it's even worse than I thought. There is this super efficient admin assistant that has been in the government even before I came in and they are still screwing with her going from agency to term to contract, back to term, etc instead of making her indeterminate. And of course, being uncertain of her employment future she has two jobs and effectively works 7 days a week. A few years ago they tried to put in the term limit at 3 years but departments are going around it and still screw with people.

They tried that with me, I was on a 3 year term (back when you needed 5 years to become indeterminate) so when the law changed they gave us all a nifty little letter saying that they had made an arrangement with TBS basically saying that they could still keep us beyond the 3 years but were no longer "counting time" ... meaning that even after 3 years you wouldn't get your indeterminate. I knew people who were within DAYS of getting it. Suffice to say that it's when I decided to find another job and promptly left

Casual to Agency is the preferred hell they use. I think they've now resolved that 3 years on term in the same position, they have to give you indeterminate.

Loopholes abound.

There's also a serious admin shortage in Ottawa, and people wonder why.
