Would you take time off between Christmas and New Year's if you knew you wouldn't get paid for the days you took off, and you would lose two days stat pay ($154/day)?

I'm not taking those days off. I've got other things to do with my few remaining vacation days. So... no, unlikely, not unless I had something particularily important to do then.

I can take as many vacation days as I like... they just all cost $154/day (the amount I would have made had I gone in).

The 27th or the 22nd happen to be extra expensive since it would essentially cost $462 to miss one or the other of them.

If it didn't require me to take any vacation days, I would take them off.

It's Christmas, it's special.

At only $150/day, I *might* do that.

Of course, given that I'm getting two unpaid weeks off whether I like it or not *and* I'm not getting stat pay no matter what I do, I might not be the best person to ask.

If I didn't need the money I would take the time off. If I needed all the lucre I could get my hands on I wouldn't.

Right now in my current life situation? Nope.

Meh, I'm working 10 hours Christmas day, and overnight new years eve. Both picked up shifts. I like the time and a half.

Pretty good. Working hard, living in Barrie, getting married in May. You?

Pretty good. Working with golden handcuffs (underemployed, overpaid), still in Ottawa, getting married in September. Surrogate mother to a Poodle and two budgies.

So am I to take that running off to be with that boy paid off?

Congratulations!

I love it when people make decisions like that and they pay off.

Nope... probably not. There would have to be something worthwhile for me to be doing to want to give up my pay. But probably my workaholic status disqualifies me in some way. Christ I signed myself up to do some coverage on Christmas Day and it's my normal day off and I'm not even required to do it! =D

What if you had to work x mas and new years, or quit your job? Given my situation with alex x mas is worth way more than even a months salary...but then again a job is good...stupid evil job!!

Mhm.

Probably, actually.

Especially if I knew I'd have a job to come back to in January. It's not an objection to work so much as it is a jumping at the chance to spend time with SO and cats.
