I think part of the reason I chose to abandon most interaction over the internet is that I find too many people to be fake when online.

I've heard of others complain of that but I've not had that problem.

If you aren't getting what you want out of it then changing or stopping makes sense.

I have had quite a few people say "The internet is an escape"... but to me it's an extension of my life, like a phone or other communication tool. It's not an anonymous playground as some people seem to think.

I must admit that I don't see internet communication as being on par with face to face comms or even a phone call. Though more often than not I find myself being more formal and more careful...not always but generally so.

I will be the first to admit though that I still think of the net (and communicating with it) as something of a novelty....I wonder if that's how people treated wireless or telephone when it first showed up on the scene....
