My workplace continues to displease me.

They are very sensitive to aboriginal issues, but god help me if I hear another ableist or homophobic comment.

There are laws against discrimination... why is there no ZERO TOLERANCE for ableism / homophobia?!! *confuzzled*

At least I'm safe here... no discrimination that I've come across in my four summers of being here.

They figure because I have a male partner and I look physically (and presumably) well, I must obviously share their opinion of homosexuals and freeloaders.

Amazing what looking 'normal' can net you eh?

Tomorrow? I suggest a two foot pink mohawk and a shirt that says something provocative....maybe then they'll say that elsewhere.

If enough people put out a no-stupidity zone, eventually someone will learn, and you can only govern yourself, what you will tolerate, not someone else.

i would like to propose a correction to your statement: you can only fairly govern yourself, etc.

government of any kind is fundamentally unfair.

Take it up with the people if it is bothering you... you don't want to get someone fired when they were not intending to offend you..

"They" really is plural. Four people brought up these topics independantly of each other yesterday. I was trying to figure out if I was weaing a "Bigots of Canada" membership card on my back or something

Partly 'cause the people who would object are afraid of being ostracized if they do, I think.

(That's the nice side. The unnice side is "'cause some people still think it's okay".)

Can you take it to your supervisor? Or supervisor's supervisor?

The more I read about your job, the more I think that you should measure your weekly productivity in terms of how many resumes you send out.

You gonna make it intact?

Admittedly, having a definite end date is probably reassuring. "This too shall pass."
