I daresay that it might almost be time for the first reformat of this computer. Five years with very few hangups.

Of course that can be avoided if I can find the mystery files that may or may not be hindering optimal function of my computer...

I still love you computer, because you never crash and only occasionally hang. I still blame microsoft for most of your problems.

how many watts does your power supply put out? O.o

i know i had slow-running windoze probs on my pIII 750.. likely 'cause i was pushing the usage on my 250 watt... o.0

It doesn't move "slow" it's just that all of a sudden it won't have memory resources left for no good reason and the solution is to close the program I'm using and that will make the memory whoring to go away. Unfortunately I sometimes have to close the program before I can save.

The only time it moves slow is when I'm trying to coax my computer to move during the virusscan or update.

P4 Processor 1400MHz
1.4 GHz, 256 RAM

I probably could deal with upgrading the RAM at some point, but honestly, for most of what I do, the videocard is good enough to make up for it. It's just when my Prof tells me I have to use MemoryWhore programs to complete their assignments. The videocard is no help when my Prof is forcing me to make a 900K Word file.

ahhh,,, If there was anythng wrong with the above stated,,,you computer would not function..

Power supply problems cause the computer to reset it's self,,,I'mean,,,sure I have a $120 power supply from ANTEC, but that's because I'm protecting a system that needs that much power..and protection.

Ram for your system is probably a cheep as choco bars right now,,, fill her up.
It can't hurt, and It will cost you practicaly nothing..

yeh, i try to push 512mb ram as standard.. :P but that could just mean giving more people an excuse to power-use when they may not really need to... ;)
