I start work tomorrow at Statistics Canada. They showed weakness and I increased my hourly rate of pay by 50%.

Moral of the story: Don't show weakness. It will cost you.

They were desperate to get the project done on a timeline, they are 6 weeks behind schedule. I know I can get them back on track and out by the deadline, but not on the rate of pay they were offering. I smelled the desperation. Then I grabbed them firmly by their wallet.
