Sadly all the mechanics I like are not in Ottawa. That being said, I had a really good experience with the Canadian Tire at Carling and Clyde when I lost my brakes a couple of weeks ago.
Yes, I was going to say Swans as well! It is on Merivale.
They don't do body work though (in case that's what it is you're looking for). They recommend Nordic - also on Merivale at Bently - I just picked my Sonata up from there, they do a wonderful job.
