If it was a Heather Birth Certificate it would be in a Heather Wallet so she didn't lose it.

I would check somewhere around your desk or in your room though, as those are the two logically places I can see it getting left at your place :)

Oh... you mean really. Check jewellery box (or equivalent), filing area for important papers, with your passport, sock/underwear drawer, box you haven't opened since you moved, where you dump stuff that you are going to deal with later, or behind any of the above mentioned pieces of furniture.

You check her purse/bag/wallet and she checks your purse/bag/wallet. Sometimes we over look stuff that we are used to looking at.

Try looking near the front door, mixed in with all sorts of coupons and cards for restaurants. That's where mine was.

Yeah that didn't help. Probably because I have no front door. =P
