We all went to P. and G.'s annual Christmas party last night and had a great time. I was personally shocked that James didn't try to "explore" more of the decor. He checked it out, but he resisted the urge to dismantle everything. There may be a few low-level fingerprints on some of the display cases, but hopefully they will bring good memories when they are discovered. We cooked s'mores in the fire place, and then James tried to poke other guests with the pointy s'more stick. Because he's under the age of 2, it's cute when he does it. Many people abducted our little guy for some nefarious cuddling, and one person insisted on putting him to sleep. I will also say a baby can travel through a crowded room much faster than an adult can. People are definitely skinnier at their ankles then they are at their shoulders.

I think a good time was had by all, and us especially.

I also think I'm coming out of my funk for real now. Good timing really. I start back at work tomorrow. I feel kind of bad that I have to displace my old co-op student for a desk, but it is a window, and there are managers looking for desk space themselves. I'll make sure I bring Frances treats for keeping my desk warm. I'm actually really glad he's still there. He's a good guy. Also, one of my old co-workers that left for another job a week after I went on maternity leave came back last week. He said he heard I was coming back so he wanted back in. Flattery will get him everywhere. It's a good team of people, and I feel a little less anxious that some of my favourites will be around. My new manager seems pretty awesome as well. There's also some chance for me to look at promotion. Normally I'd want to pay my dues a little longer, but I'm greedy and I'd really like another $20,000 per annum. So the choice is whether to promote up someone who knows the project, or hire one someone who doesn't. I think I have the credentials on paper, so I'm hoping I can position myself in a "pick me" situation. Now if I can just remember how to use a computer...

And James has a second tooth. One bottom and now one top tooth. Perfect for eating meat right off the bone.
