As per our recent discussion, I am writing to inform you that it is my intent, based on the current advice of my doctor, that my last day at work will be January 8, 2008. However, if you were a gambling man, I wouldn't put money on my regular attendance at work after December 24, 2007. I will attempt to give you as much notice as possible if my plans change, providing myself or my husband retain enough of our combined mental faculties to operate a telephone and use the English language in a sensible manner.
As I have explicitly told my doctor that you treat me well, I expect you to continue to do so, and in return, I will not need any special accommodations prior to my maternity leave.
It is also my present intent to take the full balance of the maternity and parental leave available to me and I will aim to resume work on January 5, 2009. I will keep in contact and inform you closer to the actual date as to when I will be returning, especially if I decide to return to work earlier than planned, likely due to a driving desire to be reintegrated into adult society.
Your understanding is appreciated,
