I had a relaxing and fun weekend with zenten up at my grandma's trailer.

On the way up there was a massive car fire on Highway 17. I guess the fire department had come and gone, as there was a single fireman in fire gear on the scene, with no truck, who was sort of managing traffic. The car was beyond help, so I found it particularly funny when a daring motorist ran up with a 3L fire extinguisher... It's a fire extinguisher, not a miracle. What was sad however, was the 30-something cars pulled over after the blazing vehicle, running back with cameras.

Aside from that, we arrived without much other commotion, I let zenten drive up the country road, there was a noted absence of psychotic hares, and we arrived.

I've also determined that while her grace, Princess Pebbles, will tolerate just about anything I ask her to do (c'mon sweetie, jump in the canoe), she may not enjoy the outdoors quite as much as my previous dogs. Her pampered nature revealed itself several times, prompting the question "Did they teach you that at the Imperial Palace?"

It was the first time I'd gone up alone (no mom or grandma), so I felt pressured to remember how to close up the camp properly.

On Monday, the weather was a little bleak, so we decided to go to Storyland (http://www.storyland.on.ca/) because it's going to be its last year, and I have fond childhood memories. Taking the dog was so worth it, because she seemed really intrigued by the critters in the petting zoo. It's sad it's going to be gone after 42 years.

How was your weekend?
