They're counting the Liberal and NDP votes last right? That's how this works. *sigh*

He wanted to take away a women's right to choose
He wanted to revoke gay marriage
He wants us to be a more American country

...and we elected him.

...at least Bush is happy.

for the record, the conservative party took abortion entirely out of its platform. Abortion isn't going to be touched or even addressed in government any time soon by any party.

I listened to at least four Conservative elected MPs last night who said they were going to push for the free vote, and Harper has gone on record as saying he wouldn't stop it.

With the numbers I'm seeing .... we'll be back at the polls in 16 months.

I agree. I think the next campaign officially starts today. What the govt does now will affect Canadian's view of them in a year or two.

I do not want another election. Having elections every 16 months is not good for this country. I don't want any election campaign to start tonight. I want my government, opposition and other parties to behave like adults and do thier job.

http://www.conservative.ca/EN/1091/39952 - found this on the Conservative web-site just to back up what I was saying about Harper not legislating abortion under his watch.

He's not going to touch it with the government pole, because it would be political suicide to do so. That doesn't mean he wouldn't if he thought he would get away with it.

This is a party and a party leader who compromised their personal beliefs, lied by omission, and did 'what was needed to get elected'. I trust him about as much as I trust an angry blacksnake that I'm holding by the tail, and as much as I *don't* want to see another election in a year and a half, he can't be taken out of power too soon for my taste.

YMM, as always, V.

If the Cons had to win this is the perfect way. This is a very very weak minority, they try anything controversial and they'll be voted down just like that. It's going to be interesting, the COnservatives have very few allies.
