I'm sorry, I was bitten by the bug to write... that and people have been offering me lunches and dinners to fix their resumes. Bribery works. I'll go read your story now. I keep forgetting you just asked me to read, and not necessarily edit.

I guess I just meant that I tend to start out wanting to write a short story and end up with a novella. I was always told about ten pages.

*sigh* and I have nothing with which I can bribe ye anyhow...

Long enough to be read in one sitting is what I usually see. Isaac Asimov wrote one that was less than two pages long that always stuck in my mind.
