Josh says I can get a puppy... or adult dog.
He says it has to come from the pound. He says we may have to go back a few times, like Value Village.

Puppy requirements:
Josh: Large breed, intelligent, friendly, less drool, lazy. (Dog that doesn't drool is on par with one that doesn't shed)
Kerry: Large breed, friendly, smart.
Ideal dog: Neopolitan Mastiff or Great Dane.

Willing to sacrifice furniture and/or relocate to a larger location.

I get custody in the event of a breakup.

I get a puppy.

Large breed dogs are the hardest to place... :[

You should rescue a shelter doggy.

Pupppppppy!

Stupid reality check question time:
You are aware that the larger the dog, the more expensive it is *and* the larger the volume of dog poop? And you've really, totally, absolutely considered the ramifications of a MASTIFF or a GREAT DANE over a smaller-but-still-large dog like a Rottie, Lab, Pointer, Setter, or Alpaca?

Just checking. Puuupppppy! Hit the pound, rescue a good mutt. Be ready to be dragged around the neighbourhood with a baggie over your hand, rain or shine or snow, for the next decade.

The dogs your describing tend to be higher energy, and thus would be less appropriate for an appartment.

#1: There's no such thing as a low-energy puppy.
#2: Danes are pretty athletic and active.
#3: Hey, your decision, I was just making sure that SOMEBODY had said the important things, just on the remote chance that nobody had before now.

This seems to disagree with 2 as well, as is other things I've read on them.

Yes - relative to a terrier, they're sedate. Relative to a Setter, they're quite.

They're still big dogs that, in my experience, tend to like getting out and playing.

But, hey, I'm no expert. I love Danes, but I've never actually owned one.

I found Jeremy on www.petfinder.com

really good site.

and they let you check all the local shelters, not just the ottawa humane society

I agree, and that's the plan, but many of the shelters are making this difficult to do

Could I interest you in a greyhound then? The petsmart on Innes is trying to adopt out retired racers. From everything I've heard as long as they get in one good run every week or so they're the laziest dogs around. And some don't care to run at all after retirement.
