James had a mega awesome day at the new daycare. We were supposed to do a gradual introduction, but we did a hard sell on "call us if there's an issue and we promise to drop everything and come over". No calls, lots of compliments! He even slept in a cot (by mistake), but he slept, so I say run with it! They were really impressed by a lot of his capabilities and his non-existent separation anxiety.

After I showed up, it took 10 minutes for him to even notice I was there because he was having so much fun. One of the other kids gave me a random hug while I waited.

And from this I know that it was not separation anxiety, it was the other care provider, and therefore, we absolutely made the right decision even though it will cost us almost the same as our rent.

We took James to a Language Study Lab today, and I was filling out an inventory of words James knows, and at one point I looked up and asked zenten "Does he know uh-oh?" and off to my left I hear "Uh-ohhh".

I have to say it sounds adoreable, and by far the cutest word he knows... for now.

James has a daycare space almost next door to [livejournal.com profile] zenten 's work in a licensed daycare facility. This makes me happy. And they're smuggling him in under the 18-month mark because he's so awesome (they're allowed to have 2 kids under the age of 18 months).

Yes, it's more expensive than what we've been paying, but there will be
a) Solid Foods
b) Milk and ample fluids
c) Outside Time
d) Lots of kids
e) Tons of toys
f) A structured day with lots of free play
g) A place to dump all his crap so we don't have to carry it to and from every day or worry about the care provider allowing other children to play with his diapers
h) Arts and crafts
i) sand table
j) water table
k) Rock-A-Bye Bob Marley
l) a guaranteed place for him until he's school aged
o) kiddie computers
p) phones and keyboards
q) circle time
you get the point

and [livejournal.com profile] zenten  will be able to drop off and pick up James if necessary, which is important since I could potentially have to work overtime, and overtime pay is nice, and right now I can't because I have to go pick up James, and get an earful about how I should be raising my son.

But first, I have to have the conversation with his current daycare provider... ... ... can I pay anyone to do this for me?

I kicked ass in work bowling yesterday. They have to tally it up, but they're pretty sure I took high score with a 142. Not bad for bowling while chasing James and holding a beer. Holding beer and a baby is tricky I tell you. James had fun and not because of the beer.
